4th at the TTT world championships
CANYON//SRAM Racing finished in fourth place today in the UCI team time trial (TTT) world championships in Bergen, Norway. Sunweb took the rainbow stripes, 12 seconds faster than defending team Boels Dolman. Cervelo Bigla were a further 16 seconds behind in third.
After the race Trixi Worrack said naturally the team was disappointed. “We’re really disappointed with the result. It’s not at all what we came here to achieve. If I look back at the race we didn’t make a lot of mistakes. We started quite strong and technically we were good. Everything was going as we had planned.”
Worrack went on “We wanted to go hard on the climb and we actually did quite good on that. But we paid for it afterwards. We lost some concentration on the downhill after that main climb. We were just not fast enough into the city and in the final part of the race.”
Team Manager Ronny Lauke agreed with Worrack. “Of course it’s not something that we are happy with. We were in contention until the top of the steep climb and then we totally lost it. Fourth place was not our aim but that’s where we are.”
Trixi Worrack (GER), Lisa Brennauer (GER) and Hannah Barnes (GBR) will now race the individual time trial world championships on Tuesday 19 September. Elena Cecchini (ITA) and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot will add to these three riders to be a list of five CANYON//SRAM riders who are racing the elite women’s road race on Saturday 23 September.
