An attacking race by Trixi
The fifth stage of Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour was won by Rozanne Slik (FDJ) in a steep uphill finish to Dörtendorf, Germany. An aggressive display of racing saw Tiffany Cromwell in the early breakaway that was later caught on the first of four ascents of the finish climb.
Trixi Worrack was next to attack and the former German road champion created a 6-rider group that stole a gap of over three minutes. In the final lap, Worrack and Coryn Rivera (SUN) were the only remnants of the breakaway and despite fighting to stay away for another 20km together but were finally caught just under the 1km to go banner.
“It’s really disappointing that we were caught in the final. But now I’m already looking forward to the final ITT stage in two days time,” said Worrack, the current German time trial champion. The best placed CANYON//SRAM Racing rider on today’s stage was Elena Cecchini in 11th position.
