Lisa Brennauer has finished second in the final stage of the Amgen Tour of California Breakaway from Heart Disease Women’s Race empowered with SRAM. The final stage today in Sacramento was won by Kirsten Wild (HTU), while stage three winner Marianne Vos (RLT) was third. Megan Guarnier (DLT) held on to the overall classification.

Sacramento turned out in thousands to watch the final stage, a 66km circuit race in warm conditions. Despite attacks from several teams, including riders from CANYON//SRAM Racing Tiffany Cromwell, Hannah Barnes, and Alexis Ryan, the race was finally set for a bunch sprint. Vos was first to lead the sprint and while Wild quickly overtook her, Brennauer managed an impressive second place.

Brennauer praised her team mates for the final lead out. “I think that we raced really well today. The team was active, we were always present and also aggressive in the race. In the final they did a really good lead out for me. It was close in the end but I am happy with second today.”

Directeur Sportif Ronny Lauke echoed the comments of Brennauer. “I think it was a good result. It’s a podium on the WorldTour and you should never be disappointed with this. How the riders have performed in the last two stages is much better than earlier in the week. They did a good lead out and in the end Lisa was second. We know it’s difficult to beat Wild on a circuit like this. But our riders worked well together, they executed the plan and we are all pleased with how they raced and with the result today.”

Tomorrow morning CANYON//SRAM Racing team will join a ride from Rapha Cycle Club San Francisco (10:00 PDT). In the evening the team will be at the 2198 Filbert Street base for an after Tour of California party and discussion. Alexis Ryan and Tiffany Cromwell form part of the star studded panel discussion to give insight and feedback into what ‘performance’ means to them in their sport of women’s cycling. They’ll be joined by industry leaders in design and technology including Rapha, Herman Miller, and Dwell magazine as they discuss the connections between performance, design and technology.
