CHLOE DYGERT TAKES BRONZE IN PARIS OLYMPICS TIME TRIAL

Chloé Dygert won a bronze medal in today’s Individual Time Trial at the Paris 2024 Olympics Games. Riding for USA, Chloé overcame a crash mid-race to fight back to contend for a medal, finishing one second off a silver medal.

The 32.4km ITT was raced in wet conditions, causing havoc as many riders crashed on the slippery roads in the centre of Paris. Agnieszka Skalniak-Sójka (Poland) and Antonia Niedermaier (Germany) both crashed but were able to get up on their bikes again quickly. They fought hard to finish in twelfth and fifteenth respectively. Diane Ingabire, the first ever Rwandan to ride in the women’s ITT at an Olympic Games, finished in 35th place.

RIDER REACTIONS

Chloé Dygert: “I like this weather, and this temperature, so I can’t complain about the conditions. I”m grateful to be here. It’s been a long road to get back to the Olympics. I’m very thankful for the support and it’s been a true blessing to get here and across that line. I didn’t set up the corner right and slid out. I had some adrenaline when I first got up, but I could tell right away that I hit my left leg on the frame so I had some spasms going on in the leg. Here and there, I could tell there were some moments where I lost power. It’s no excuse to finish third, because Anna and Grace had strong rides.”

Agnieszka Skalniak-Sójka: “It’s disappointing to crash. I felt quite good. I came around a roundabout and all of a sudden I saw a rider had crashed and was on the ground on my right side. I had to change line and as soon as I did that, I slipped out and crashed. It’s disappointing.”
