Elena wins stage two
Elena Cecchini sprinted to a stage two victory today in Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour in Meiningen, Germany.
The Italian outsprinted Coryn Rivera (SUN) and Lisa Brennauer (WHT) in a hectic finale. “We took control of the race at a certain point and I’m proud of how our team worked together to get this victory. We worked to bring back a break and then had Trixi (Worrack) and I representing us in the front group,” said Cecchini after the podium.
“In the final descent into the city it was chaotic. I felt good for the sprint and it went well. Coryn was coming really fast at the line but I made sure I crossed it before I threw my hands to celebrate as I’ve lost a race that way once before,” added Cecchini with a smile.
“I have to say that the whole team was great. Christa (Riffel) was in the main break for us and then able to still contribute afterwards. Tanja (Erath), Tiffany (Cromwell) and Alice (Barnes) all worked and we created a new situation for us to win from. We’re happy tonight!” said Cecchini.
