Chloé Dygert signs multi-year deal
We are proud to welcome one of the most exciting and talented cyclists in world cycling, Chloé Dygert. The 23-year-old American rider brings her time trial brilliance and multi-disciplined talent to our squad as we move into our second year of Women’s WorldTeam status.
“Honestly, it’s the best team for me—willing to work with my track schedule and giving me the freedom to still be the athlete I strive to be,” Chloé said enthusiastically.
“I’m excited to see myself in the CANYON//SRAM colours. It will be my first time racing on the road in Europe but my coach and I agree that the time for that has now come in my career. I’m confident that CANYON//SRAM will provide the best environment for me to achieve my future goals over the next four years. Also, there’s lots of pink,” said Chloé.
The ten-time world champion will be part of CANYON//SRAM Racing from 1 January 2021, signing a four-year deal which will see her stay with the team until the end of December 2024.
CANYON//SRAM Racing Team Manager, Ronny Lauke said “Chloé is one of, if not the, strongest up and coming talents in cycling. She is extremely performance oriented and will fit well into our international group of young, progressing athletes.”
“Chloé is an outstanding force of nature in time trials and with her overall strength she is a very diverse rider. She will open up new tactical opportunities for our team during road races. I am also confident with her personality, that she will add willpower and tenacity into our talented group of riders.”
Chloé will combine road and track goals in 2021 and is expected to move between US and Europe as her racing schedule allows.
“My focus in 2021 is clear—the Tokyo Olympic Games. I just want to heal and be ready in time, and my goals are to win gold in the time trial and the team pursuit,” stated Chloé.
“I haven’t raced on the road in Europe yet because I still had goals to accomplish before we could move to that one. I’ll stay working with my coach Kristin Armstrong. We’ve always set goals and gone after them one at a time, without spreading ourselves too thin. We’ll keep that approach next year and we’re looking forward to the support environment of CANYON//SRAM and its partners.”
Lauke reinforced Chloé’s dual discipline focus, “We will fully support Chloé on her road and track approach towards the coming Summer Olympic Games. Waiting on the progress of her rehabilitation from the crash in Imola at the Road World Championships, our performance group will plan Chloé’s 2021 season together with her home coach.”
Roman Arnold, Founder of Canyon Bicycles reiterates Lauke’s comments. “I’m incredibly proud that Chloé will join CANYON//SRAM. She is an exceptional athlete in a class of her own. Her character, talent and attitude towards the sport are unique – she has already achieved so many milestones at a very early age, with plenty more ahead in the years to come. Our first common objective is the Olympics in 2021, and I promise Chloé, at Canyon we will give our all for her to achieve that goal!”
“We’re fortunate to continue our support of Chloé as she transfers to CANYON//SRAM Racing, we’ve been with her since the beginning of her professional career. These next few seasons will definitely be exciting, her potential is limitless,” said Jason Phillips, SRAM Road Sports Marketing Manager.
Nicola Cranmer, Founder & General manager at Dygert’s current team TWENTY20 supported the young rider’s move to the Women’s World Tour.
“We are thrilled to see Chloé make this move to CANYON//SRAM as one of the top teams in the world, and to continue to grow her extraordinary and multi-disciplined talent on a global scale. At age 23, Chloé has many years ahead of her in the sport and it’s exciting to see her take this next step in her career with Ronny Lauke and his top-notch organisation.”
The full roster for CANYON//SRAM Racing’s 2021 season will be announced at a later date.
