Crash-marred RideLondon
In a fast paced 20 laps around The Mall, the Prudential Ride London race was won by Lorena Wiebes (ParkHotel) after winner Kirsten Wild (WNT) was disqualified for a dangerous move in the finish sprint.
The move caused a crash with 100m to go, which brought down Alexis Ryan, Ella Harris and Rotem Gafinovitz. All three were later cleared of any major injuries.
In a separate incident, British champion Alice also had her race stopped when a rider put her handlebars in Alice’s rear wheel, forcing her to stop and unable to contest the sprint finish.
Last woman standing, Tiffany Cromwell finished 18th for the best placed CANYON//SRAM Racing rider.
