LISA 8TH IN SIMAC LADIES TOUR PROLOGUE
Lisa Klein was our best-placed rider today on the opening day of the Simac Ladies Tour in The Netherlands.
Starting with a short, technical 2.4-kilometre course, the prologue win went to Marianne Vos (JVW) with Lisa eight seconds behind in eighth place. Though Vos won by a clear margin of five seconds, the next fourteen riders were within five seconds or less of the second place on the podium today in Ede.
“I gave my all though I didn’t feel like I had my best legs today,” said Lisa after the finish.
“I did a small mistake before the last right-hand turn which cost me some speed. I was impressed with Marianne and the course suited her, but also I have to say I really liked the course too. I just missed some speed and good legs.”
“The time gaps were all quite small being such a short prologue. It means that you can’t afford any mistakes at all and you have to be really in top form on the day. I would have liked to finish closer to the leaders,” added Lisa.
Teammate Alice Barnes also put in a strong performance, finishing just ten seconds behind the winner.
“I’m happy with my performance. I gave it all and looking back it’s hard to say where I could have made up more time,” said Alice who will go into tomorrow’s stage one in fourteenth position on the general classification.
