Lisa Klein secures Best Young Rider classification
After wearing the jersey all week, Lisa Klein won the Best Young Rider classification after the finish of the Healthy Ageing Tour today in Groningen. The final stage was won by Aafke Soet (WNT) with Amy Pieters (DLT) winning the overall.
Despite a hard tour, every stage German rider Trixi Worrack was in the select front group of riders and today was no exception. An early break of 7 riders swelled to 10 and stayed away to the finish. Worrack finished seventh on the stage.
“It’s been a good tour for me to do. Every day was hard racing and although I had quite tired legs I still felt better and better each day. I’m happy with where my form is,” said Worrack after the stage.
“We had quite a young group of riders here and I feel that they’ve learned a little bit more each day. For me now, I’ll have some recovery now and then prepare for Amstel Gold Ladies Race next weekend,” added Worrack.
As well as the Best Young Rider jersey, Klein finished sixth on the general classification with Worrack in seventh place.
The team will now return to the classic races with the Ardennes triple of Amstel Gold Ladies Race on Sunday 15 April followed by Fleche Wallonne and Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
