NEVE BRADBURY TAKES OVER THE YOUTH CLASSIFICATION JERSEY IN GERA
Neve Bradbury took over the lead in the youth classification from teammate Antonia Niedermaier after today’s stage two of Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour. The longest stage of the tour at 153km saw Mischa Bredewold (SDW) win by 13 seconds ahead of the peloton sprinting for second place. Ricarda Bauernfeind and Neve Bradbury jump three places in the general classification to fifth and sixth, respectively. Antonia holds her seventh place, and all three riders are at +44 seconds in the overall.
“We were hoping that that bunch would be even smaller today coming to the finish line as it was one of the hardest stages on paper,” said Neve.
“We tried a few attacks, and I tried the last time on the final climb but lacked the power to get a proper gap. I almost made it across to the winning breakaway with around 35km to go, but I couldn’t quite get there. We need to look for our opportunities every day and try to create a race situation that gives us an advantage,” added Neve.
“We’re not the strongest team in bunch sprints, so we need to make the most of what we’ve got and make our own opportunities. It’s nice to keep the youth jersey in the team, and we aim to keep it tomorrow and, even better, all the way to the end.”
