THE SECOND PARIS ROUBAIX FEMMES AVEC ZWIFT

CANYON//SRAM Racing’s roster for Paris Roubaix Femmes avec Zwift will be Alice Barnes, Shari Bossuyt, Elise Chabbey, Tiffany Cromwell, Lisa Klein and Sarah Roy.

The team has finished its preparations with a final course reconnaissance yesterday. Alice, who was CANYON//SRAM Racing’s top finisher in 2021, said she is prepared for a hard battle.

“It’s the second edition so riders know what to expect. With the way it was raced last year, they will know it can be full gas from the start. The wind can play a huge part in tactics so we will need to keep an eye on that,” explains Alice.

“For me, having done the race before is a huge advantage to know the course and what to expect. I am good at remembering routes which is important in a race like this. You need to be able to know when to be in the right position going into each sector.”

After 117 years, the first-ever Paris Roubaix Femmes avec Zwift was held in October last year. The only change to this year’s parcours is an additional local circuit around the start town of Denain before the peloton hits the first of seventeen sectors after 42km. The cobblestone sectors remain identical and include the five star Carrefour-de-l’Arbre and Mons-en-Pévèle sectors.

Lisa is the only rider in CANYON//SRAM Racing’s lineup that did not race the first edition, after being forced to withdraw before the race due to shoulder surgery. Teammate Tiffany will play a road captain role and last year came into the velodrome in 29th place behind solo winner Lizzie Deignan. Like Alice, Tiffany believes the experience of making it to the velodrome is invaluable tomorrow.

“I hope to be able to be a strong asset to the team and be part of the race-defining moments to help set up the team for a podium or victory,” states Tiffany.

“Roubaix is like the Belgium classics. It takes experience to work out the best way to get through the harsh cobbles and to understand every turn and sector of the course. You don’t want to waste energy when it’s not important but have to be prepared to utilise energy when it’s needed. For the women’s peloton, last year we were all entering unknown territory being the first edition. Having the experience from last year, and making it to the finish line, definitely makes me feel better prepared to go into this year’s edition knowing what to expect,” adds Tiffany.
