Pauline fourth at La Bresse MTB World Cup

Pauline Ferrand-Prévot finished fourth in the last UCI MTB World Cup for 2018, in La Bresse, France earlier today. Arguably the most exciting world cup of the season, the race was full of action from the start, with several punctures and changes in the lead creating a thrilling finale.

After a great start Ferrand-Prévot settled in fifth position, but with two laps remaining moved into second position behind Emily Batty. With one lap to go, Ferrand-Prévot took the initiative and attacked the leading group of four riders to gain a small advantage. But in the final, current world champion Jolanda Neff took the lead again to secure the win and the overall world cup classification.

“The race was crazy! The ambience from the crowds was incredible. I wanted to do my own race and ride my own pace. It was a technical lap but also super physical,” said Ferrand-Prévot after the finish.

“In the last lap, I attacked because I wanted to go into the downhill section in first position. But they came back to me and then it was not possible to follow. I’m so proud to finish fourth in front of the French crowd! It wasn’t the best week for me but I fought really hard today to do my best today and I’m really happy with the race,” added Ferrand-Prévot.

The French MTB national champion will now have two weeks to prepare for the UCI MTB World Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
