Pauline returns to MTB World Cup racing
We start a busy week of racing with the return of the MTB World Cups for Pauline Ferrand-Prévot on Tuesday 29 September.
After a string of race cancellations, the first international races of the 2020 MTB season recommence tomorrow with back to back World Cups in Nové Město na Moravě, Czech Republic. The current XCO world champion, Pauline is excited to race in the rainbow jersey against the best in the world with two XCC and two XCO World Cups between 29 September and 4 October.
“It’s the first international event of the season and I’m really looking forward to it,” said Pauline.
“With the strange year as all we know, plus adding in my surgery at the beginning of the year, I have struggled to find my speed race again without the usual calendar of races. So I hope that Nové Město has arrived right on time for me.”
“These two short track and two XCO races will be good for me. I’m an athlete who needs to race. After Nové Město I will be able to see if I find my world class speed again. So, I would say, this week of World Cups isn’t a big goal. I just want to take pleasure and to do this final work to be able to defend my rainbow jersey next month.”
Pauline continued, “I’ve worked a lot since the beginning of the season and I was never ‘fresh’ for the races that I have done so far. That’s because the most important will be the week of the world championships and the Europeans — two of the three most important titles that count in your career!”
