Pauline Ferrand-Prévot made a firing start to the 2018 MTB season today with a second place in the first world cup in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

Ferrand-Prévot took an early lead on the first of six laps. Annika Langvad (SRC) went with the Frenchwoman and a thrilling battle ensued. The lead changed several times between the pair and only on the penultimate lap did Langvad go clear. Ferrand-Prévot finished the race 13 seconds behind the Danish rider.

“It was a good race. I’m happy with the results and with my legs,” said Ferrand-Prévot after the race.

“Overall I’m happy because my goal is to be good at the end of the MTB season. I haven’t done specific preparation for today’s race and haven’t spent a lot of time on the mountain bike in the last weeks. To get second today gives me a lot of satisfaction,” added Ferrand-Prévot.
