FIVE-RIDER SQUAD FOR CANYON//SRAM GENERATION
CANYON//SRAM Generation will race on Sunday 20 March at Il Igartza Sari Nagusia – Gran Premio Igartza as part of the Women’s Spanish Cup nine-race series. The 92km course around Beasain in northern Spain, will see the peloton race three times the 1.9km-long Olberria climb with an average gradient of 8% and the shorter but equally steep Lierni climb twice.
The team’s roster will be Ricarda Bauernfeind, Agua Marina Espinola Salinas, Alia Mansor, Valentine Nzayisenga, and Llori Sharpe. After a successful start to the team’s first-ever racing season last weekend in the Women’s Autonomica League, the team is looking forward to the race.
It will be the first race of the year for Ricarda Bauernfeind, Agua Marina Espinola Salinas and Alia Mansor.
Ricarda, who recently finished a period of university exams, says she can now give cycling her full focus and can’t wait to get her racing season started.
“I‘m very excited to have my first race with CANYON//SRAM Generation and to race with my teammates. It’s my first race of this year so I hope it won’t be such a big shock for my body,” smiles Ricarda.
“Usually I would say that the up and down course suits me very well but it’s the first race of the season so it’s difficult to predict something. I don’t really know many of the other riders. I’m feeling good and I hope that we can have a nice race as a team. It’s great we have five riders because that will make a difference to learning more about race tactics as a team,” adds Ricarda.
