TWO PODIUMS ON FINAL DAY IN SCANDINAVIA

CANYON//SRAM Racing finished a strong performance at the Tour of Scandinavia, with Shari Bossuyt sprinting to second place on the final stage in Halden, Norway. Neve Bradbury won the youth classification and moved up one place overall to finish fifth.

Shari had three podium appearances for the six-day tour after finishing third on stages one and three, behind yesterday’s stage winner Marianne Vos.

“The final circuit was very hard. It was full gas as we entered with 20km to go, until the last metre,” explained Shari.

“In the last lap, I was too far back in the peloton. Alice (Barnes) helped bring me to the front. I could find (Sarah) Roy, and she did a super strong lead out for me. I made a small mistake timing my sprint, but something I will learn from. I wanted to win, but finishing second behind Marianne is not so bad, and her form is very strong. So, I’m happy with this podium.”

Shari added, “I am proud of this tour and the results that myself and the team achieved. I didn’t expect to get three podiums and have such a good feeling on the mountain stage. None of it would be possible with the help of my teammates!”

Neve Bradbury has enjoyed a steady development progression, rising from Zwift Academy Road winner in 2020 to winner of Best Young rider and fifth overall in a Women’s World Tour stage race in her second year as a professional.

“I’m really happy with this,“ said the 20-year-old Australian after the podium.

“I was humbled to be the GC leader for our team from the start of the tour. It’s nothing I’ve experienced before, and it did feel strange. Overall, I think I handled the pressure well. Thankfully, my teammates made everything easier for me.”

Neve continued, “They did an amazing job looking after me all week. I’m grateful for their support, as I couldn’t have done it without them. I’m happy to get the best young rider jersey and finish fifth in GC. It gives me more confidence for the future and more drive to improve more.”

Neve was fifth overall at +1:00 and won the youth classification by 2:00 ahead of teammate Shari.
