Antonia Niedermaier Germany
With a background in ski mountaineering, Antonia Niedermaier is a naturally gifted athlete whose exceptional endurance and phenomenal ability to excel in high-performance sports have quickly established her as one of the most exciting young talents in cycling.
Antonia first caught attention in 2021, capturing the German National Junior Time Trial title, along with a trio of medals across the National, European, and World Junior Road Championships.
After completing her high school studies in June 2022, Antonia embarked on her first season in the professional ranks with CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto Generation. Her aptitude for cycling was immediately clear, and by her 16th UCI race day, she had already won two stages and secured the overall title at the prestigious Tour de l’Ardèche Féminin, an 8-day stage race.
Her rapid ascension of the sport continued in 2023 when Antonia was promoted to the CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto WorldTeam. Despite undergoing surgery for a knee injury earlier that year and starting her season midway through, she bounced back to deliver outstanding performances.
One of the most defining moments of her career came in July 2023 during the Giro d’Italia Donne. On stage five, Antonia outsmarted, out-descended, and out-powered the reigning road world champion over a challenging 25 km of mixed terrain, securing a stunning victory in her first ever WorldTour race.
With the wind at her back, Antonia went on to win the U23 Individual Time Trial World Championship title in Glasgow, earning her first-ever rainbow jersey. She followed up that victory by claiming the inaugural time trial stage of the first-ever Tour de l’Avenir Femmes, exuding panache in her new rainbow skinsuit.
Now, in just over two years of racing, Antonia’s palmarès continues to get shinier. In 2024, she finished second in the youth classification and sixth overall at both the Giro d’Italia and Tour de Suisse, often riding in support of teammate Neve Bradbury. She also defended her UCI U23 Time Trial World Title with a scintillating performance, finishing an outstanding fourth overall while only being nine seconds off the podium, besting many established elite riders in the process.
Looking ahead, Antonia remains focused on achieving even greater success. “I’ve set ambitious goals for myself,” she says. “I believe the team’s expertise and camaraderie will be crucial in helping me reach these targets.”
“Next year, I hope to improve my performance and have some nice results in the bigger stage races. I plan to contribute to the team’s success by being a reliable and dedicated team player. I am confident we can achieve great things in the upcoming season.”
At just 21 years old, the future is incredibly bright for Antonia.
