ZOE RETAINS HER U23 WORLD CUP LEAD
Zoe Bäckstedt had another strong performance in today’s round four of the Cyclo-cross World Cup series in Troyes, France. Zoe finished in eighth place and in second place in the U23 category. In doing so, Zoe extended her lead in the U23 World Cup general classification and maintained her third place in the Elite World Cup general classification.
“At the start, I was focused on getting the best result possible to try to extend my lead in the overall u23. But towards the end, I was feeling a lot more tired after my sickness in the last week, so my focus moved to trying to stay ahead of Bentveld and catch Schreiber,” explained Zoe.
“From the podium places to the top ten was really a big battle at one point. It was a group of more than five riders fighting for positions, which was cool to be a part of! In the last part of the race, I found my rhythm a bit more and held onto my position in the final.”
“My feeling on the bike isn’t amazing after my sickness, so I have to say I’m happy with the result today. I have more to give for sure, and I know it’s possible to be up there fighting with the best, but that will all come in time. I’m happy to have held onto my third overall, and my U23 lead! Next weekend we go again and race round #5 in Dublin. I’ll be fighting with all I can to get some more points,” adds Zoe.
